General

Q?
Why distillation?
A.
Distillation produces the most reliable, highest quality, safest, gold standard of water quality. Distillation is the process that nature performs in the water cycle to purify water.
Q?
When and where can I purchase a Distillation Recycling Module?
A.
Systems for clean water in buildings and industrial, residential and commercial wastewater treatment will be available in 2015. We are currently taking pre-orders for our Point of Entry (POE) and Septic Solution systems. If you would like to add your name to our pre-order list, please Contact Us.

Water Quality

Q?
Does the water need to be tested before purchasing a device?
A.
Aquaback’s products purify all commercial and residential water and wastewater without the need to test the water prior to purchasing. The quality of distillate is monitored continuously so our products are virtually incapable of producing poor quality water. The composition of industrial wastewater and oil and gas produced wastewater should be generally known to assure proper operation and optimal efficiency.
Q?
Does the water need to be treated before drinking?
A.
Aquaback’s distilled water is safe and healthful to drink and requires no additional treatment. Contrary to popular belief, research and many experts agree that drinking distilled water is healthier than drinking spring water. If consumers desire custom engineered water that tastes like a specific brand of bottled water, salts, electrolytes and other required compounds can be added at point of use drinking dispensers.
Q?
How do I know if the water coming out is potable?
A.
A built-in remote monitor will provide assurance of reliable operation.
Q?
Where is the heater?
A.
While most of the required heat to keep the system in equilibrium comes from the electric motor running the compressor, there is a small built in heater within our products.
Q?
Is it loud?
A.
Standing next to the DRM in a room having low ambient noise, it will not be heard. In a quiet room at 10ft away the DRM is barely audible.
Q?
Where do the contaminants in the water go??
A.
Depending on the application and disposal requirements, Aquaback can provide customers contaminants contained in the influent water as a concentrated “waste” stream or as a dry sterile powder.
Q?
Is it expensive to run?
A.
No. At an average U.S. electricity price of $0.10 / kWh, the DRM produces pure distilled water at a cost of $0.002/ gallon, or about $45 per person per year.
Q?
Does it use consumables?
A.
No, Aquaback’s patent pending design eliminates the need for any consumables.

Setup

Q?
Where would my module be installed?
A.
Preferably near the incoming water source. For most systems this will be in the basement, near your hot water heater / boiler, or utility closet. If you have a septic system, our solution will either be placed in or next to your septic tank.
Q?
Does it need to be in a warm environment?
A.
No, the DRM works efficiently in essentially any environment. While the system's output is rated at room temperature (70 degrees Fahrenheit, 21 degrees Celsius), the design of the dewar keeps the internal workings of the system at a constant temperature, regardless of outside temperature. Since the performance of the DRM is based on the temperature of the incoming water, warmer environments/water temperatures will see improved DRM performance
Q?
Does it need to be level to run?
A.
Like any appliance, the DRM should be installed level.

Maintenance

Q?
What is the expected lifetime of the DRM?
A.
The DRM is expected to operate for at least 50,000 hours with annual service. The unit overall DRM is guaranteed for 3 years and specific parts for up to 5 years.
Q?
Does it require maintenance?
A.
The DRM will operate for approximately 50,000 hours before significant maintenance and requires no consumables other than electricity with the result that total operating cost will be negligible. Turned on and programmed, it will operate automatically, and if necessary continuously, accepting significant variations in input water quality. Maintenance will occur on an annual basis.
Q?
Who will service it?
A.
A technician approved and trained by Aquaback.
Q?
What is the price of maintenance?
A.
The first 3 years of maintenance are covered as part of your purchase. Once that initial period has ended, yearly maintenance contracts will be available for a small price.

Safety

Q?
What happens if I lose power?
A.
If the DRM loses power, the electric motor that drives the distillation processes will stop, the inlet valves will close and the DRM will no longer provide water until power is restored. Water already distilled will be available in the storage tank included with some applications.
Q?
What if the controls fail and it doesn’t shut off, is there a fire hazard?
A.
No.
Q?
Can it cause a flood, like a failed water heater?
A.
No, the dewar will not leak.
